What is Scalping?

Scalping is a trading style that enters and exits positions within minutes (or seconds), targeting a few pips per trade with tight stops.

A scalper places many trades per day, each targeting 3–10 pips of profit, usually during peak-liquidity sessions. The style rewards fast execution, ultra-low spreads, and minimal slippage — which is why scalpers gravitate to ECN accounts with raw spreads and cTrader or MT5 platforms.

Most dealing-desk brokers either restrict or outright ban scalping, since the tight margins and high trade volume eat into the broker's internal book. Before committing to a scalping strategy, always check the broker's terms for minimum trade hold times and explicit restrictions on EA-based scalping.
