How to Trade the Economic Calendar

High Impact Events

Fed decisions, NFP, and CPI cause the largest moves. Expect 50-150 pip swings. Widen stops or avoid trading 30 min before/after.

Medium Impact Events

PMI, Retail Sales, and jobless claims create moderate moves. Good for short-term setups with tight risk management.

Plan Ahead

Check the calendar every Sunday before the trading week. Mark high-impact days and adjust position sizing accordingly.

Timing Matters

US events at 12:30-14:00 UTC drive the most volume. European events at 07:00-10:00 UTC move EUR, GBP, CHF pairs.
