Both Vantage and FP Markets started in Australia, hold ASIC licences, and built their reputations on tight ECN spreads. They're also both popular across Southeast Asia, where local payment rails and fast withdrawals matter as much as the raw spread numbers. But when you're choosing between two brokers that look similar on paper, the differences show up in commissions, minimum deposits, and how long you wait to see your money back in your bank account.

This comparison puts their Raw ECN account types side by side, checks what you'll actually pay per lot, and measures how each broker handles payouts across different regions and funding methods.

Account types and minimum deposits

Vantage offers three account tiers: Standard STP (commission-free, wider spreads), Raw ECN (spread from 0.0 pips plus commission), and Pro ECN (tighter spreads, higher minimums). The Raw ECN account has a $50 minimum deposit and is the sweet spot for most active traders.

FP Markets runs a similar split: Standard (no commission, wider spreads) and Raw (spread from 0.0 pips plus commission). The Raw account requires a $100 minimum, double what Vantage asks. If you're starting with less than $100, Vantage wins by default.

Both brokers support MT4, MT5, and cTrader. FP Markets adds Iress, which is rare outside Australia but powerful for equities and DMA CFDs. Vantage sticks to the three mainstream platforms, which is more than enough for currency pairs and metals.

Raw spreads: what the market actually offers

When a broker advertises "spreads from 0.0 pips," they're quoting the best possible interbank price on EUR/USD during peak London or New York hours. Outside those windows, you'll see 0.1 to 0.3 pips even on Raw accounts.

Vantage's Raw ECN account quotes spreads from 0.0 pips on major pairs. During Asian hours, EUR/USD typically sits around 0.2 pips, GBP/USD around 0.4 pips, and USD/JPY around 0.3 pips. Exotic pairs like USD/THB or USD/PHP widen to 5-10 pips because liquidity is thinner, even on an ECN feed.

FP Markets Raw account also starts at 0.0 pips on majors. Real-world spreads are nearly identical: EUR/USD 0.1-0.3 pips during London, GBP/USD 0.3-0.5 pips, AUD/USD 0.2-0.4 pips. The spreads are so close that you won't notice a difference unless you're scalping inside a 30-second window, and at that point slippage and execution speed matter more than the advertised spread.

The raw feed is only half the picture. Commissions decide your total cost.

Commission structures

Vantage charges $3.00 per side per lot on the Raw ECN account, which works out to $6.00 round-turn per standard lot. If you trade 1.0 lot EUR/USD, you pay $3 to open and $3 to close, so $6 total.

FP Markets charges $3.00 per side per lot on the Raw account as well, identical to Vantage. The round-turn cost is $6.00 per standard lot. Both brokers rebate part of that if you trade high volume, but the public rate card is the same.

When you add a 0.2 pip spread to the $6 commission, your all-in cost on EUR/USD is roughly 0.8 pips per round-turn with either broker. That's competitive with Tickmill and IC Markets, and well below most STP Standard accounts that quote 1.2-1.8 pips with no commission.

If you trade mini lots (0.1 standard), the commission scales down to $0.60 round-turn. Neither broker has a minimum commission per ticket, so small position sizes aren't penalised.

Execution speed and slippage

Both brokers route Raw ECN orders to a pool of tier-1 liquidity providers. Vantage uses Equinix NY4 and LD5 data centres; FP Markets co-locates in the same Equinix facilities. Average execution speed for both sits around 40-60 milliseconds on major pairs during liquid hours.

Slippage is where the two diverge slightly. Vantage allows you to set a maximum deviation in pips, and if the order can't fill within that range, it rejects rather than fills at a worse price. FP Markets offers the same control on MT4 and MT5 but defaults to "fill at any price" on market orders, which can lead to 0.5-1.0 pip negative slippage during news releases. You can change the setting, but it's not the default.

For news traders and scalpers, Vantage's approach is safer out of the box. For swing traders who aren't chasing ticks, the difference is negligible.

Platforms and tools

Vantage supports MT4, MT5, and cTrader on desktop, web, and mobile. The MT5 implementation includes all 21 timeframes, depth of market, and an economic calendar plugin. CTrader offers cBots for algo traders and level II pricing, which is useful if you want to see the order book.

FP Markets offers the same three plus Iress. Iress is a professional-grade platform used by Australian brokers and fund managers, and it gives you direct market access to equities and futures alongside forex. If you only trade currency pairs, you won't need it. If you're in Australia and want to trade ASX stocks in the same account, Iress is a strong reason to pick FP Markets.

The MT4 and MT5 experience is nearly identical on both brokers. You get the same charts, indicators, and expert advisor support. The edge goes to FP Markets if you want platform variety, and to Vantage if you prefer a simpler, focused lineup.

Withdrawal methods and speed

Vantage processes withdrawals to the original deposit method within 1 business day for e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller, Perfect Money) and 1-3 business days for bank wires. If you deposited via local bank transfer in Thailand, Vietnam, or Malaysia, the same rail is used for withdrawals, and funds usually arrive in 1-2 business days.

Vantage supports a broad set of local payment methods: FasaPay and local bank transfers across Southeast Asia, Vodafone Cash and M-Pesa in Africa, and UAE local transfers. Because these are direct integrations, withdrawals don't bounce through intermediaries, and you avoid correspondent bank fees that can eat $15-25 per wire.

FP Markets processes e-wallet withdrawals in 1 business day and bank wires in 2-5 business days. The bank wire window is longer because FP Markets routes international wires through correspondent banks in some regions, which adds a day or two. If you're in Australia and using a domestic AUD transfer, it clears same-day or next-day. If you're in Vietnam or the Philippines, expect 3-5 business days for the funds to land.

FP Markets offers fewer local payment rails than Vantage. You can deposit and withdraw via PayPal in some regions, but options like FasaPay, Vodafone Cash, or direct UPI transfers aren't available. For traders in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Vantage's local rails are a practical advantage.

Withdrawal fees

Vantage charges no fees on e-wallet or local transfer withdrawals. Bank wires are free for withdrawals above $100; below that, you pay a $10 processing fee. If your bank or intermediary bank deducts a correspondent fee (common on international USD wires), that's separate and outside Vantage's control.

FP Markets charges no withdrawal fees on e-wallets or bank transfers above $50 AUD equivalent. Below that threshold, you pay a $10 AUD fee. International wires may incur intermediary bank fees of $15-30, depending on the correspondent chain.

In practice, if you're withdrawing $500 or more, fees are negligible with either broker. If you're pulling $50-100 at a time, Vantage's support for local rails saves you money.

Regulation and fund safety

Vantage is regulated by ASIC (Australia), FCA (United Kingdom), CIMA (Cayman Islands), and VFSC (Vanuatu). The ASIC entity offers negative balance protection and segregated client funds, but no government compensation scheme. The FCA entity provides £85,000 FSCS protection for UK residents. Most Southeast Asian traders are onboarded to the Vanuatu entity, which is less strict but still segregates client money from operating capital.

FP Markets holds licences from ASIC, CySEC (Cyprus), and FSA (Seychelles). The ASIC entity is the main regulated hub for Australian and international clients outside the EU. CySEC clients get €20,000 ICF protection. The FSA entity serves clients in Asia and Africa where CySEC and ASIC can't onboard due to local rules. Funds are segregated in all entities, and FP Markets publishes quarterly financial statements.

Both brokers have been operating for over a decade without major regulatory incidents. If you're in the EU, FP Markets via CySEC gives you investor compensation. If you're in Southeast Asia, both brokers segregate funds but neither offers a deposit guarantee. You can verify the licences on each regulator's public register.

Swap-free Islamic accounts

Vantage offers swap-free accounts on all account types, including Raw ECN. There's no commission surcharge or administrative fee, and you request the swap-free option when you open the account. Positions held overnight incur no interest, making it compliant for traders who follow Islamic finance principles.

FP Markets also provides Islamic accounts on both Standard and Raw accounts. Activation is instant when you submit the request through the client portal. Like Vantage, there's no hidden fee or wider spread; the same Raw pricing applies. Our guide to Islamic swap-free accounts covers how these accounts work and which brokers handle them well.

Both brokers are strong choices for traders in the UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan who need halal-compliant trading.

Funding options by region

Southeast Asia: Vantage supports local bank transfers in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, plus e-wallets like FasaPay and SticPay. FP Markets offers bank wire and PayPal in some countries but not the same breadth of local rails.

Middle East: Vantage processes local AED transfers for UAE residents and offers Perfect Money and Skrill. FP Markets relies on international wires and e-wallets, which take longer and cost more.

Africa: Vantage integrates M-Pesa, Vodafone Cash, and local bank transfers in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. FP Markets offers standard bank wires and Skrill, but no mobile money integrations.

Australia: FP Markets has the home advantage with instant domestic AUD transfers and Iress platform access for equities. Vantage also offers AUD accounts and domestic transfers, but FP Markets is slightly faster due to local banking partnerships.

If you're funding via cryptocurrency, Vantage accepts USDT (Tether) deposits and withdrawals with no fee. FP Markets does not offer crypto funding.

Which broker fits your strategy

Pick Vantage if you:

  • Want a $50 minimum deposit and local payment rails in Southeast Asia, Africa, or the Middle East
  • Deposit and withdraw frequently in small amounts and need fast e-wallet or local bank transfers
  • Trade from a mobile device and value quick funding turnaround
  • Need USDT deposits or crypto-friendly payment options

Pick FP Markets if you:

  • Already have $100 or more to deposit and trade primarily major pairs or metals
  • Want access to Iress for Australian equities or DMA CFDs
  • Prefer a broker with CySEC coverage and EU investor compensation
  • Are based in Australia and want same-day AUD domestic transfers

Both brokers tie on spread and commission, so the decision comes down to deposit size, funding methods, and how fast you need your money back. For traders in emerging markets who deposit small and withdraw often, Vantage's local rails and $50 minimum make it the practical choice. For traders in Australia or the EU with larger balances and interest in multi-asset trading, FP Markets offers more platform options and regulatory coverage.

Final verdict

Vantage and FP Markets both deliver tight ECN spreads, identical $6 round-turn commissions, and solid execution. The real split is in accessibility. Vantage's $50 minimum, local payment integrations across Asia and Africa, and 1-2 day withdrawal times make it easier to get money in and out without losing $20 to correspondent bank fees. FP Markets offers Iress, CySEC protection, and slightly deeper Australian market access, but the $100 minimum and longer wire times push it toward traders with bigger accounts and less frequent withdrawals.

Open a demo account with both brokers, fund the live account with your preferred payment method, and test a withdrawal before you commit serious capital. The advertised spread is less important than whether your money shows up in your bank account when you need it.
